Show/Hide Top N bars (not segments) on stacked bar chart

If you create a Pareto chart with stacked bars, using the "Show top N" option (oddly) counts the number of bar color segments to display as opposed to complete bars. I realize it's possible to use some fancy rank functions and calculated columns to overcome this segment vs. bar count issue but it would be nice if the Show Top N feature just handled it for you as a checkbox option on the Show/Hide properties dialog.

OK last comment (maybe). PE support helped me craft an expression that worked. But, alas, now trellising settings are ignored. No error or warning.

This needs a real solution that works with all the other configuration settings.

I was told that one needs to create a custom expression in the top N rule. There is a PE help for this:

But alas this does not work for me - error in the expression that I cannot decypher.

Why not give us the checkbox and make it work for us?

Really, almost two years since this bug was logged? It is a bug. I just logged the same problem and found this as related. The whole point of the top N is to limit the number of elements displayed, and when I want to see the "top 20" in my bar chart, I want to get 20 bars, NOT 20 bar segments - no one thinks that way.

BUG: stacked bar charts drop stacking when using Top N show/hide in 7.11 and 10.2

I have a stacked BC for a table containing 300,000 rows. Showing unique count and total count for a column. BC is sorted big to small. When I add a Top N show/hide rule (e.g., show top 50), only some of the bars show the stacked measures. This var...
