Hi Christian, Daniel has essentially described the use-case for this idea. Right now if we wanted to export visualization data to SBDF it would take two steps. We're looking for a way to do this in one step instead.
Right now, if I wanted to do this via Automation Services or Spotfire Client, I would have to export the table visualization data to a flat file, then open another dashboard to read that flat file and export that table data to the Spotfire library. As you can see, I would have to do two export jobs to accomplish this.
In the Spotfire 7.11 Automation Services user manual, it gives the following 3 options:
(1) export data table to the Spotfire library
(2) export data table to a flat file
(3) export data from a visualization to a flat file
It would be very helpful to have the option to export data from a visualization to the Spotfire library, because there are times where it's desirable to only export only a subset of the table columns/rows, and to have the resulting SBDF saved to the library so other users can use it in their dashboards without having to resort to a common file system. It would be nice to have this feature in both the Spotfire Client and Automation Services.
What's the use case for this idea?
