Snowflake is a Data Warehouse as a Service Platform that we have purchased and will migrate more of our EDW towards. It is a platform that is growing exponentially year over year with dozens more each week. We have a Snowflake JBDC driver that we use to connect from Spotfire, however we would like to request a native connector to be built within Spotfire.
It is our belief that by having a native connector that query performance will significantly be increased as compared to plain JDBC.
It is also my belief in working with the Snowflake team that there are several other Spotfire customers that have also requested a Snowflake connector and therefore it would benefit other customers as well.
Last, Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Periscope data and several other visualization vendors have all built connectors to Snowflake. Where is Spotfire's?
Implemented in | 10.3 |
Available in TIBCO Spotfire 10.3 LTS.

One of the big customer, who want to build their analytics journey on the cloud path, saw huge performance lift while doing POCs on Snowflake, they are concerned that if they put Spotfire as global analytics solution and move their DW to Snowflake, they will not able to take full advantage of Snowflake.
We already have Snowflake JDBC driver installed. There are performance issues with how Spotfire communicates with Snowflake through JDBC. One example is that as a developer, when you connect to Snowflake, Spotfire will try to read all metadata on every object within Snowflake. Severely impacts developer productivity.
It is not hard though to add this as an additional driver.
Download the jdbc driver from SNOWFLAKE and add to TSS..\WIB-INF directory, create a basic data source template and restart server. 10 minutes max.
