I think this would be incredibly useful - anything that reduces the need to code, or understand the Spotfire C# API makes building interactive analytics quicker, simpler and more sustainable.
Hi Niklas- Here are my thoughts, let me know which is useful and I can update the text in OP.
First, I think the API Automation is very powerful and on one end of the spectrum could be a sophisticated interface that allows users to build automated workflows from drag'n'drop routines... however, I imagine this is quite a task to implement. On the other end of the spectrum, I think simply automation tasks could be added to the pre-saved Action Control list. I imagine only tasks that didn't require additional dialog windows would be easies to implement.

I think it would be useful to gather stats on which types of ironpython is commonly used by users and add them as pre-built routines. We have some of this tracking in Google Analytics that I can share if interested.
Neil - many thanks for contributing. For this Idea, could you please be more specific in the text about what additional action controls you think are most important? Like for properties controls there is an idea that mentions explicitly radio button and checkbox: https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/SPF-I-4894
