Sorting bar charts and pivot tables based on other columns Merged

Currently sorting the bars or columns/rows of bar charts resp. pivot tables can be done based on values in the chart. Very helpful. But could the sorting also be based on columns that are not in the chart? This would give us extra understanding of 'what we see'
