Load shapefiles from file geodatabase

Currently we have to keep two copies of a "shapefile", one in a geodatabase for performant use in ArcGIS and a second as an extracted shapefile for use in Spotfire.  I'd like Spotfire to be able to load shapefiles from a file geodatabase (not just a SQL Server Geodatabase) so avoid file duplication and additional work when changing both shapefiles.
