Being able to trellis visualisations in Spotfire is incredibly useful, and often required when dealing with lots of groups and data.
Currently there is no way to specify trellis settings for a Mod. Adding the standard Trellis GUI (much like exists for color just now) would mean Mods developers can utilise the trellis settings. Ideally, Spotfire would automatically trellis the visual mod without the need for the mod developer to implement this manually.
Not all visuals/mods would require trellising so possibly it could be an option in the mod manifest to enable trellising or not to the end user.
