Allow the option of scatter plots having the independent variable on the Y axis instead of only the X axis. This can either be done by rotating the plot 90 degrees or choosing which axis to have the independent and dependent variables.
The specific example I am working on plots multiple data streams versus depth. Standard industry plots have depth on the Y axis and the data being plotted against it on the X axis. This is not possible with the current scatter plot options.
I work in the energy industry as well and this is one of the most desired upgrade in our company - high priority for the oil and gas users!!!
