*Goal:*
As a report developer I would like the ability to maintain the sorting of the data table throughout visualizations, as natural string sort is not always what makes sense.
*Example:*
In many cases, a user might want to visualize data throughout certain main categories and then lump the lesser categories together to one other category. When using this on for example a bar chart, the others category might end up in the beginning of the plot or somewhere in the middle based on what the category is named. This due to the chart forcing natural string sort on the plot.
*Details:*
* Detailed information on the suggested enhancement in itself.
{quote}By able to sort axis (in case of the Bar Chart) and rows (in case of the Cross Table) based on the “sort order” column which customer doesn’t want to see in visualizations{quote}
* Information on how the lack of this is affecting your work.
{quote}vizualisations are so 'ugly' that we cannot use Spotfire for official documents{quote}
* Information on how the addition of this would help your work.
{quote}vizualisations from Spotfire could directly be used for official documents. Currently we have to export the data from Spotfire, copy to excel and create the vizualisations once again

* And what facilities / users are (or would be) affected in the end by this change. Much like whom it benefits.
{quote}about 300 users in my department would benefit from this change. But worldwide everybody who is using a database as datasource instead of excel.{quote}
Quote surrounding workaround options:
{quote}I know that there are Sort Order settings (Edit > Column Properties > Sort Order), but our customer is using a template which connects to a Database.
As for the "Apply sort order from column" feature there are some restrictions such as "This option is only applicable to String columns"{quote}
