One of our customers is also asking for freely positioning labels, in order to avoid overlaps.
Another customer requesting the same. A work around is to add data points and connect the lines using a Scatter Plot. More details here ► https://community.spotfire.com/forums/topic/18116-barplot-show-label-from-lternate-column/#comment-51956
Would be great to have slanted labels on the axes that is available in other BI tools and excel. It will be easy to read when there are long labels and too many data points.
It would be great to show more than 100 labels on the map visualization.
It would be great to be able to see both values and percentages on bar segments. We use both numbers and it would great to see them on the visualization.
Some other additions requested
- formatting (include in Fonts options of visualization properties)
- removing box outline
- custom positioning (drag)
- transparency
- visibility on hover only.
- show only max & min value labels (maybe add to Rules option for Top 3, etc)
I have a use case where users want to see labels as cumulative % on stacked bar chart. Spotfire by default shows non-cumulative label such as 25%, 45%, 30%. However, I would like to provide flexibility to switch labels to instead show as 25%, 70%, 100%
There are so many ideas from this portal that should be aggregated into this one. Spotfire has an image and a PR problem!
Under the hood it’s a V8 but out of the box on the surface it looks like my rusty old Hilux;)
We do review every idea that is submitted to make sure we understand it and we use the votes as input to our priorities. However community ideas is one of many sources of input for product improvements. We are also looking at where the market is heading and what businesses as a whole is struggling with in the BI space. We want to strike a balance between improving what we have guided by feedback from existing customers through the idea portal, usability tests etc and innovation that differentiates us from the competition and addresses new use cases. Sometimes we will also take inspiration from multiple ideas and design a solution that addresses the underlying need rather than implementing a specific individual request.
We commit to looking seriously at the top voted items and make an effort to get them implemented if they fit with our overall strategy and product direction. In fact the top 10 voted items are being regularly looked at. It is likely that we are either working directly on them or working on something that would allow us to address them sometime in the future. However we can not give any absolute guarantees that the top voted suggestion will be implemented and when it will be done. Sometimes we pick lower hanging fruit. If you've followed the latest Spotfire releases you've hopefully seen that every release resolves at least some requests from the idea portal.
Do these requests even get looked at?
I would like to be able to format the labels in a combination chart as different categories on the same axis. For example, to have the line labels formatted as currency and the bar labels formatted as a standard integer.
Request for custom placement of labels that are associated with Lines & Curves on Scatter Plots
Today, labels can only be horizontal. Diagonal labels, vertical labels would help when many points on a visualization
I'd like to be able to style the labels -- background color, text color, border
I would also like to have the ability to show labels for all data points when they overlap - if 5 points end up in the same position in a scatter graph it would be good if all are labeled, not just a few.
