There is an issue when you have a big enviroment, when a Hotfix is apply, everybody need to download everything again, and if I set to force update, all users will try to download it at the same time after that. Most of the users: 20% according to my IT department get incomplete or damage packages due to network issues, and it´s a problem for them to clean the installation, sometimes, installing the plain version and let the user to download again the updated packages.
It will be nice for them if I can generate from the Deployment area a Link and/or file that can be installed on the end user machine and already have all hotfix need to connect to that deployment area.
It can be an Exe, MSI installation file.
It may also generate the Portable version with packages from that deployment area.
We deploy hot fixes regularly and all our Production fixes are set as "force update" and do not experience any issues. It looks to me you should be looking at the root cause of your problems ("network issues", AV, whatever it is) rather than expecting Tibco to implement a new feature. A couple of other approaches:
1) Package the Spotfire Client and update the package every time you have a hotfix. Distribute using software package distribution system like SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager).
2) Use the Spotfire Portable client from a shared location. I have not tested this but it should work since the Portable client is self-contained in a directory.
