It should be possible to edit Add Columns (joins) operations in TIBCO Spotfire.
Implemented in | 7.13 |
Adding data to your analysis by inserting columns (joins) is a core part of data preparation. With Spotfire 7.13 now available you now have the alternative to add columns by using Spotfire's web client Business Author in addition to the Windows client Spotfire Analyst. This means more users will be able to do their visual data discovery in their web browser without installing Spotfire's Windows client. If you discover issues with your joins while using any of the clients you can also edit them.
A new user interface based on Spotfire's recent Add Rows UI makes it really easy to understand the different join methods through illustrations. The result is previewed before finishing the edit. The UI is also smart. For example, it shortlists and recommends id and categorical columns that share name and datatype. This makes it quicker to find the columns you are most probably looking for.

awesome!
In 7.12 you can now delete an insert columns operation, so at least you can remove it and redo it. It's not ideal, but it's a significant improvement. We were upgrading to 7.11 and then ditched that when 7.12 came out. That feature along would make the upgrade hassle worth it.
Needed. ON a complex analysis with joined operation between tables to find the only option is to recreate the analysis for changing conditions is frustrating, to say the least. Seems no option if you got it wrong the 1st time to fix it. (Using 7.11) Worse is that you CAN edit the data sources.
Thanks Mark! I have updated it. :)
Thomas, I guess it wouldn't hurt to edit this idea to say "It's not possible" rather than "It's now possible". Could potentially increase the votes and reduce confusion :-)
Had the same problem and it was confirmed that this feature is still not available as of today in 7.11 or 7.12 I guess.
I don't see any way to edit join operations in 7.10
Is this now part of 7.10?
Thomas, I have seen this in a couple of your other posts, but you are saying that a feature is available when it isn't yet available. The most recent version is 7.9, and this is not part of that. Can you please be more clear with stating what is and isn't part of the current applications.
With that said, I would like to add that we also need the option to remove an Insert Rows or Insert Columns operation, in addition to the ability to edit it. I added this as an idea and am upvoting this.
