When adding a coloring rule to a particular column, it would be nice to have an option to apply the coloring across all columns in the data table, such as "Color the whole row according to this grouping". This option should only be applicable when coloring rules are applied to a single column. The benefit is that you can easily see the coloring across all columns in the table, instead of having to scroll to the specific column. This might be useful if you want to visually see how another column might impact the colored column.
Thanks Carly, lets keep this idea as its own. Thanks to both of you for explaining the details, I made a slight addition to the description.
Niklas,
Christoph's interpretation matches my intention with the original idea. I checked out the related idea you mentioned and while it is similar, it is not quite the same. The other idea wants to be able to color a single column based on the value in a second single column (which they would ideally not like displayed directly). My idea is to color all columns based on the value in a single column. In order to combine these ideas, they would both need to be reworded to be something like "When adding a coloring rule based on the value in a particular column, it would be nice to have the option to apply the coloring to additional or alternative columns including the ability to color all columns."
Hi Niklas,
This is not my Idea so I can't tell whether TS-I-5507 would solve it. From my personal point of view, I would like an option in the coloring to say "Color the whole row according to this grouping" or something similar.
Hi Christoph
yes I can see that is probably what is meant. And also yes the request to color columns based on another column's values is another Idea:TS-I-5507 https://ideas.tibco.com/auth/redirect_to_aha?return_to=%2Fideas%2FTS-I-5507
Do you think that Idea would completely solve this Idea? In that case I will merge them.
Hi Niklas,
But you cannot color a whole row in the same color based on one column. I think that's what meant.
You can also not color columns based on another column's values which could give you the same effect (there's another idea for that I think).
Hi Carly
You can add any number of numerical columns to a color scheme grouping in a Table. I am attaching a screenshot of what I mean. Hope this is what you need, if not please let me know!
