This would avoid multiple clicks, and other keyboard inputs to reach the column properties dialog (located under the Data menu).
This would be mainly for Table visualizations, but could also be beneficial in other visualizations.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant the description 2, reaching the selected column's properties within the Data -> Column properties window. :)

Hi Xavier, when looking at this again I realize there are two alternate interpretations of this idea. 1. You want the Column section in the tables properties to open to select columns displayed in the table. 2 you want that the Column properties dialog (in the data menu ) should open with the clicked column selected. Can you please clarify which of these you were referring to? Or if it was a third thing you were intending!
