Provide a global "Cancel" functionality (using a hot-key) within the Spotfire session

We need a global "Cancel"/"Abort" functionality (using a hot-key like Esc or Ctrl-C) within the Spotfire session, to stop/kill the last operation/process/thread.

In many occasions, users invoke (by mistake) an operation that takes a very long time (could be hours) and the only way out is to go to the Task manager in Windows and kill the Spotfire session (losing all the unsaved work in the session).

    Hi,

During a discussion with Thomas Blomberg regarding this enhancement request, he asked to provide use cases. Some of the use cases are:

    1. When there is a problem connecting to a data source like an Oracle DB, it could take a long time to get a time-out and return to normal operation.

    2. When the user (by mistake) triggers the execution of a "huge" database SQL query, it could take hours to return.

    3. When the user (by mistake) triggers an export to PPT report which generates Hundreds of Thousands of pages, it take a very long time to complete...

Thank you for considering the implementation of this enhancement request.
