Add marking display options

It would be very useful to have the ability to change the size and/or shape of marked items (especially in scatter plots). Currently you can either choose to have the color of marked items be set by the selected marking's color or you can have the unmarked items' colors appear lighter than the marked items' colors. This works well but it would be helpful to be able to make the marked data stand out a bit more using either a different shape for marked markers or by increasing the size of the marked markers.

Hello Jordan and thank you for this idea.

Part of your requirement can be accomplished today using the Subsets feature. Basically creating one subset for marked items and another subset for items that are not marked. The Subsets feature is available from the visualization properties and enable showing multiple slices of the data in a same visual and the use of any categorical axis to distinguish them. This way you could set the Color, Shape and/or Trellis axis by subset.
Unfortunately, it is not possible today to assign subsets to continuous axis so you will not be able to show marked items larger than the rest. I would suggest to vote for this idea: https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/TS-I-9181

Here is an example of setup to show marked and un-marked items differently:

    1. Select Add > Marking... from the Subsets property and click OK to create a first subset that corresponds to every row in the data that is marked.

    2. Select Add > Marking... again and check "Use the complement of this subset" to create another subset that corresponds to every row in the data that is not marked.

Once done, set the Color by, Shape by and/or Trellis by axis to (Subsets).

You can add as many subsets as you'd like that corresponds to any markings or filtering scheme. And you can even write an arbitraty expression to define a subset. Most commonly you can use subsets to compare filtered data to all data or filtered data to unfiltered data. These subsets are pre-defined in the subset dialog.
