Having 'out-of-box' options would be ideal instead of using work-arounds by using calculated columns and the 'Lines & Curves' feature that does allow color, line type, and line width and transparency.
Use of line weight/thickness is used to visualize data across several of our analyses (especially ones that we're required to generate a summary report version to send out by PDF to execs). This and the awful PDF functionality - something that seems to have been immensely improved with 7.10 - was one of two roadblocks we had to getting rid of our side Tableau operation. One down...now just 'line style by' to go!
I agree to Dave that it would be great to have a "Linestyle by" option to have more differentiation options in the line charts.
it should also be possible to define the line styles via (document) properties
The functionality for dotted and dashed lines is only available in the "Lines and Curves" section, but not for the default lines. This would be very valuable for me.
We could definitely make good use of this feature. I would also suggest including ability to choose marker style including not using any marker at all
Would also want to be able to set style by data element (LINE BY)
