1. Open a file or information link to create an initial data table in TIBCO Spotfire.
2. Add a second data table by unpivoting the original data table.
3. You do not want to save the file as linked. You can then either save file as
3a. embedded, or
3b. linked, and in the 'Settings for Linked Data' dialog, uncheck the Linked check box for the source table, but keep it checked for the dependent unpivot table.
4. Close TS.
5. Open the embedded / semi-linked file.
6. Replace the main data table
7. Now. You would expect the unpivoted dependent table to get updated, but it is not (regardless of whether the file was saved with alt 3a or 3b).
If the file was saved using alternative 3b, you can now do "Edit > Data Table Properties" and Refresh Data in the Unpivot table.
But, it would be much nicer if the Replace Data dialog asked if dependent tables should be refreshed, with "Yes" as the default setting. If the file had been saved as embedded it may make sense that the "Refresh Dependent" option defaults to "No".
