Greatly improve export to PPT functionality

We have several dashboard reports and senior management  rather wants to review it in (polished!) PPT slides than live on the web player (sadly but true).

Currently the export visualization image and export to PPT are pretty limited. E.g. viz images are just cut off and you cannot define the image size of the export; charts are spread over several ppt slides; this needs to be greatly improved. Business users are already fed up a bit with Spotfire due to this limitation although they acknowledge that the tool itself is great.

Also it would be important to use different font sizes and line widths etc. in the exports.

Implemented in 7.12

The Export capability has been greatly enhanced in Spotfire 7.10, for PDF. Please refer to:https://community.tibco.com/wiki/whats-new-tibco-spotfire

I am not entirely sure why this Idea was set to Implemented, since the description speaks about PPT rather than PDF. Will investigate this further.

Status has changed to Implemented. Does this mean we will see this as an update or only in future versions of Spotfire?

    Hi All,

MIA Solutions has the tool called "MIA Template Exporter" that allows extended exporting (ppt, html, pdf) - via creating own document templates enriched with charts/tables/properties/etc. from Spotfire + a lot of functionality in addition for automation services - like "report bursting".

In next release of the exporting plugin we will support increasing/decreasing fontsizes in the charts.

For more info - please contact me via michal.jakubik@miasolutions.sk

    Attached the flyer.

Because of such limited export functionalities our business users are requesting to switch to some other tool. Although they appreciate the good analytical capabilities of tool but consider it useless if they can not get good exports.

We have also had troubles exporting large amounts of data (about a million rows with say 50 columns) from the web player - the data gets corrupted randomly which has been frustrating. I hope they address that as well.

We disabled toolbar in web player because the print and export functions are so poor.

Export functionality is one of our biggest disappointments and aside from CSV is virtually useless. Unfortunately our business consumers also want nicely presented reports and Spotfire is getting a bad name because we're generally unable to do this. I know there's options like Jasper but adding another reporting platform is relatively not an options.

I also find the excel/csv export frustrating when you have multiple tables that need scrolling on the same tab. Even if you choose to export all data it doesn't give the option to export each data set together and span pages. There's also no way to export all tabular data into one spreadsheet, having to choose each visualisation at a time isn't great.
