Server offload to run analysis configurations and Enterprise reports

There is no option in the Server offloading functionality in desktop Statistica interface to run an analysis configuration or Enterprise report. Viewing the analysis results (data spreadsheets, graphs, and result spreadsheet) in desktop Statistica is a richer interface and offers more functionality to those users with access to the desktop interface.

Also, when using the Edit Report option for an Enterprise Report, it runs the analysis configurations associated to the report in desktop Statistica so that the users can define what analysis contents should be included. There is a nice new Quick Edit option, but that's only good if you do not need to edit what analysis results to include (only viable if report template has already been created).

If the analysis configuration or Enterprise report uses a lot of resources, the PC or server running desktop Statistica needs to be sized and configured to accommodate the resource intensive analysis or report. In most implementations, the customer is expecting that the Statistica Enterprise Server be the only component that would need to run large scale, or long running jobs. We recommend users run their desktop Statistica on Citrix servers, and most default Citrix implementations are not sized for such large scale, or long running jobs.

It would be great if users could offload the running of the analysis or report to the Statistica Enterprise Server, and have options and interface to control what size and amount of content can be returned to the desktop interface.

It would also be great if users could offload the running of the analysis when editing Enterprise reports, and have options and interface to control what size and amount of content can be returned to the desktop interface for this task.

Primary issues with current implementations that could be resolved with this functionality are:

  • Insufficient temp space and other general resources on Citrix servers to accommodate all users.
  • Citrix client timeouts when running large analysis. For example, the corporate Citrix policy is that if users are not actively using a Citrix application, then it will close out the session and forcibly close the application after 90 mins. A particular analysis takes 2 hours to run. The user is unable to create the Enterprise report template without intermittently clicking on the Statistica interface (preferably somewhere that won't do anything). So after 90 mins, the user session closes and the report editing is forcibly terminated and they have to start from scratch. This is a very common scenario.
