Essential feature. Lack of this makes waterfall chart unusable! Back to Excel
Since I've put this here, lots have happened and even forgot about it.
The graph still 'feels' a little unnatural but here is a workaround for this 'problem':
Go to options > colors > edit the expression exactly like this: "THEN If([CategoryIndex.X] in (0),null,[Y.FinalValue])".
This means that now you can set the colors for 3 categories:
1. Starting Bar [it will have the color of 'Empty values']
2. Difference(s) Bar(s)
3. Total Bar
It's a key feature we are talking about here!
Sorting in waterfall would give such an edge to Spotfire compared to other softwares like Tableau! Think about how many people in finance and other services could make good use of this feature!
essential feature! First question asked for all people working in business: what variable has biggest impact?... now dificult to answer
I do not know about others but I find myself in the following situation:
The first column is with the Initial Total, then comes the differences and, in the end, the Total bar (final & automatic & optional)
My need is about the coloring: my financial clients want me to color based on differences values (red for positive and green for negative) but the Total BARS (yes, both of them) to have their own colors.
Thank you for your time !
Yes, please this is really important for waterfall charts, and seems easier to implement
Agree this feature would be a massive improvement to the waterfall plot
