In previous versions of Spotfire, there was a clear option to either embed data or to link to source during the save process. In the latest version, the options are "always new data", "always new data", "new data when possible" and "stored data".
I would expect "stored data" to embed the data. This is not how it behaves! It still uses linked data unless the Data Table Properties is set to "Embedded in analysis".
As a consequence, if you currently remove all data (to create a blank template) or remove some bad data (e.g. as part of a decision) and save the report using "stored data", it will actually use "always new data"/"new data when possible"...... linked data, and bring back the original complete data set.
The current behaviour is misleading and dangerous. Even when you know the behaviour, it is inconvenient.
Hi Thomas,
Is there any plan for this idea to be implemented, In which Spotfire version do we expect to have it?
Thanks
Thanks for valuable feedback Brian. I have created a Wiki article to explain this behaviour. It's in our direction to implement a remove rows data transformation but doing so is not currently planned.
