Since upgrading to Spotfire X, when someone is viewing a dashboard in the WebPlayer there is a drop down that has Viewing or Editing as options. For those that do not have the ability to edit this option is still there and can be selected though it doesn't change the page selection. Could this be made to not show the Editing option if the user does not have the ability to edit? In previous versions there was also a bit more functionality to limit what a person would see in the WebPlayer through the Document Properties dialogue.
Users that only have licenses from the TIBCO Spotfire Consumer and TIBCO Spotfire Enterprise Player does not get to choose Editing mode. Any discrepancy from this should be reported as a bug to TIBCO Support.
We've reported this to support as a bug. Our business users have Analyst licenses but have never had Business Author capabilities because we don't enable Business Author licenses. Prior to 10.0 the users don't have any ability to edit in Web Player, but with 10.0 they now have the view/edit choice. We can't remove the Analyst licenses, but similarly we can't allow use of edit mode in Web Player either. It's particularly confusing since switching to 'edit' mode doesn't actually enable any of the menu options since the users haven't got any Business Author licenses.
Jennifer, the Editing/Viewing drop down is not intended to be shown if the user has only Consumer and Enterprise Player licenses enabled. I verified this on a test server. Can you please double check the license settings for the users that see the Editing/Viewing drop-down? I am attaching a screenshot from the licenses manager to illustrate what I mean.
