Currently the access control for the folders in the data connectors does not work like in the Information Links, Users who see a report that has a data connector require to have access to browse the directory even if they will never access the directory. It would be nice to have this just like in the Information Links where access to browse is not neeed (just 'Access') to see a report that consumes an information link.
