As a developer, I would like the option to force my users of having only 1 Analysis file opened at a time (not in a new Window or Tab) using the Web Player.
For example, consider the following use case:
The user switches to EDIT mode and then clicks on the "+" icon at the left-hand-side and opens a file from the Library (that gets opened in the same Browser tab). Then, the user decides to click on File -> View Library and opens the same Analysis file, that gets opened in a new Browser Tab. So after the above, the user ends up with 2 browser tabs in their Browser window with the same Analysis file in them. I think that behaviour causes confusion.
Hi Georgi,
I'm trying to understand the problem you are trying to solve.
Is it about limiting resource utilization from users opening multiple files? Or is it about working or editing only on the same one to avoid overwriting changes from some other tab?
Thanks
Options are good. I just don't want TIBCO to force it one way or the other.
Another way to solve the same problem would be to implement a change that will stop the user from opening the same file. Spotfire can check of the file is already opened and if it is, just jump to the opened file (i.e. opened browser tab).
Some users need access to more than one file, and some don't.
I still would like this to be an option (a configurable setting).
Downvote. Users frequently need access to more than one file open at a time.
