Spotfire Server - Avoid false positive when new server configuration is uploaded to the database

When a new Spotfire Server configuration is uploaded to the database, a WARNING message shows up under Nodes & Services -> Notifications, informing that the Server 'XXXX' must be restarted to use the latest configuration (see attached screenshot).

When Active Directory groups are added or removed from the synchronization list, the Spotfire Server service does not need to be restarted to have the changes active. Having a false positive in the notification will require more monitoring of the messages displayed in the Notifications.

Thinking different possibilities:

  • Add a switch to the import-config command to let Spotfire Server know that no further message should be displayed (proceed to the same change in the Configuration Tool graphical user interface).

  • Possibility to acknowledge the message (and not make it come back every time there is a poll).

  • Let Spotfire Server determine if the new configuration's changes will require a service restart, using a "diff" between the old and new configuration.

Thank you for your consideration.

Kind regards,

Xavier
