The database server for the Spotfire database a system requirement.
The database server can be an on-premises service or provided as a cloud service. By listing the database server as a requirement, the Spotfire installation packages are lighter and it is simpler for the administrators that need to manage separate upgrades due different life cycle management of Spotfire releases and supported database servers' releases.
Due to the above reasons, most of the products in the market with a database as a system requirement do not bundle a database server software.
From Spotfire 12.0 LTS you can deploy Spotfire with one liner, using the Cloud Deployment Kit for Spotfire (https://github.com/spotfiresoftware/spotfire-cloud-deployment-kit). This is a very convenient way to deploy Spotfire on any K8s cluster.
