Polygon marking in maps and scatterplots

Sometimes I like to mark data in a polygon shape. I use Spotfire's Lasso marking for this, which is nice, but in some cases it would have been easier to make exact markings using a polygon marking mode to exactly click on the points of the polygon.

There is a way to achieve this behavior today using the following method:

    1. Use the Points in Polygons data function available from TIBCO Community. This data functions will detect which markers are located within a feature layer. The function will add a new column to the marker layer data with features IDs assignments.

    2. Create a relation between the marker layer data and the feature layer data based on the new column created by the data function.

Now when you mark a polygon shape in a feature layer on a map chart, the markers inside it are marked.

Polygon Selection in Maps

This is very useful to select by hand the points we have on the map…but the selection tools are somewhat limited. The lasso is completely free hand, I would like to make easy lines with it. Having a “select by polygon” feature like we have on QGIS...
