Default Color By Not Choosing the Same Colors

Currently, even with a Color By of less than 20 options, by default, Spotfire will use the same color for more than one of the options. Is there a way for the default settings to not choose the same color until you reach a very large number of categories? And even with a custom color scheme, could the system automatically exclude any colors already chosen?
